On The Road (again)

Hubby and I just got back Sunday evening from a great trip to beautiful Arkansas!  Perfect weather all weekend!  While I’m taking the time to download and sort through pictures to show you, here are a couple of new furniture pieces from Miss Heather to feast your eyes upon.  Eye candy deluxe!

WOW!  I love this new new design that she just created!  And YES, this is her own design.  She sketches original designs like this one out on paper and refines them before transferring them to a piece of furniture.  Now where could I use a piece similar to this……huummm……

Now I ask ‘ya…….does it get ANY cuter than this!!??  This design, with each drawer different, continues to be a customer favorite.

Heather rarely uses the original hardware.  She usually redrills the drawers on each piece.  I told her yesterday, if I did that the hardware would be all over the place!  I could never get it straight.

There is also another new pattern but unfortunately, she did not get a picture of it.

See ‘ya with all new trip pics. a little later!

NEW ADDITIONS AND RANDOM “STUFF”

I’m to the point of making spaces where there really aren’t any to accommodate all of the things that I just can’t part with from my mother’s house.

020

Like this clock.  What would you call this?  Adirondack style maybe?  Any way, I’ve always loved it.  It was handmade by an older gentleman here in OKC years ago.  It’s a piece of art, don’t you think?  So Hubby and I made a spot at the top of our stairs in the TV or family room for it.  There are also several other pieces, including a desk, that I still haven’t decided on, at her house.  This is a wonderful thing, having the luxury of taking my time, and deciding on things slowly and with much thought.

021

We discovered this 1960’s vintage faux fur jacket in the back of her closet.  I remember this jacket from my childhood.  I LOVED to wear it and play dress-up!  I guess I was a gaudy girl at an early age!

The jacket is adorning my already over-dressed mannequin.  Oh well, more is better for my girl!

Speaking of which……..if you’re dragging things home left and right trying to find places for everything, then you FOR SURE want to find something that you can’t live without at the RINK to buy!

023

Here she is!  Now I ask you……could you have passed this up?  I had seen these forms before, but never with the stand.  The fun thing is that you can dress her AND use her to hold photos!  She’s the complete opposite of her sister!  All dressed in neutrals like she is!  The vintage tap pants she’s wearing were my Nanny’s, the white gloves were mine, all of the vintage photos are of family, and the rest are things found here and there.

024

029

027

That’s a picture of my Mother.  Probably in High School?  Cute, huh?

So this mannequin was my Birthday present from my Hubby.  Or so I told him when I drug him to the Rink to buy it for me!  HA-HA!

I spent last Sunday crafting.  Sometimes just cutting up little pieces of paper can be VERY therapeutic!

010

Some new paper dolls.  I’m taking the new and the old and making them into a banner.  That scrapbook that I was NOT going to cut up…….yep, it bit the dust!  It worked perfectly for the banners.

011

Some of them still need a few things added to them.

012

013

014

015

016

These are one of my favorite projects because they incorporate everything that I really like to create with.  Scrapbooking elements, vintage ephemera, digital elements that I have Photo Shopped, old lace and trims, glitter, and so on.

018

019

So…..this house is beginning to look like the Circus is in town!  One thing’s for sure…….it’s not boring!  There’s something to see everywhere you turn.  And it’s a happy place, and in the end, that’s what’s important don’t you think?  That we all have a home, however we decorate it, that makes us smile and gives us that good feeling when we come “home.”

Have a wonderful week!

At The Rink!

I FINALLY remembered my camera this week when I went to the Rink to work on our booth.  And guess what?

Autumn and Halloween are arriving all over the mall.

013

There is so much to see and buy!  You can do most of your Holiday shopping at the Rink!

014

Love the old chippie crackled paint on that window.

015

I liked the clever way that this display was so haphazardly stacked and layered.

012

Many of the vendors are bringing out their fall colors for displays and vignettes.

017

016

And finally…………………

A look at our new booth!

003

Hubby built us the arch entrance out of old doors and shutters across the top.

004

We’ve tried to incorporate our old chippie doors in with our displays.

006

008

009

This two piece hutch is one of our painted pieces.  Black with touches of cream continue to be very popular here in Oklahoma.

010

Linens.  Mixed vintage and newer.

007

We’re loaded with great merchandise and furniture.  AND I will be pulling more Halloween merchandise in our displays tomorrow.

We really love our new larger booth.  Our displays look soooo much better and we’re able to create much more interesting vignettes.  Expect to see more painted furniture pieces in the weeks to follow and bigger and better Holiday displays clear through Christmas and beyond!

Love Ya!

Favorite Season!

It’s beginning to feel like fall is arriving!  The fall colors should be gorgeous here this year.  We’ve had plenty of rain and in fact, it’s been rainy and cool for the last few days so I’m ready!

001

003

005

The woods behind our house look beautiful with all of the rain, but won’t they look that much prettier with all of the fall colors?

In the meantime, I couldn’t wait any longer…….I must decorate!

027

Yep!  Halloween is calling my name!

028

Yummy fall colors are my favorite for floral arrangements and such.

009

Everyone and most surfaces are getting a “redo”!

008

He’s happy to be in the spot light again!

010

A magical mix!

011

Apothecary redo.  I found the black and orange glittered balls at Hobby Lobby last week.  $4.99 a package.  A pretty good price, I thought.  The shredded paper in the bottom is mainly for filler.  Fill the top with other spooky stuff like spiders, skulls, and fluffy orange balls that I cut off of a garland.  Then I positioned the creepy witches hand so that it hung off of the side and covered its stand with beads to make it look like it was coming out of no where.  A lime green glittered leaf with spider finished the look.  Hope these instructions helped.  I’ve had several people ask about an apothecary jar tutorial, but honestly I don’t know what to instruct you on.  It’s usually just a bunch of small “stuff” that I grab and throw in..

012

A close up of the top.

013

One of my favorites…..from Bethany Lowe.

018

017

020

The mantel and my favorite Santos.

029

This guy gets a special spot front and center.  He was a gift AND handmade by my friend Brenda Little, an amazing artist!

If you don’t like going to this much trouble, simply fill a couple of jars and maybe a few bowls with beads and miniature pumpkins and such.  There’s no wrong way to do it.  Just throw in a handful and you’re done!

025

So  BOO!!   Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

Saturday??

It’s WHAT!!  Saturday?  I can’t believe it, I’ve been soooo busy that the days have just flown past me!

I’m bring home more fabulous and sentimental finds from my Mother’s house.  That’s the good (if you could call it that, considering the circumstances) news.  The BAD news is that my wonderful artsy Mother did NOT have a will.  So we are digging and digging looking for the important papers that will be necessary to proceed with this sad process.

During all of this, we have also moved to a larger booth at the Rink.  Not to pat myself on the back or anything……oh okay if you insist……it’s looking pretty great.  If you are in the OKC area please stop by and take a look.  There are also several other people moving to different spaces and the entire mall is taking on a very exciting and new look!  You’re sure to be impressed with what you see.

As you see, no pictures!  By the time I’m to the picture taking process, I’m too tired!

I wish I could spend my evenings here….

Oh yummy!  Doesn’t that look relaxing?

roulottes_8

I would decorate the interior just like this and add a few of my own vintage favorites……….

I think I’ll order one this morning and have it delivered to my back yard……

HEY…..I can dream!

You can find these dreamy gypsy wagons here…….

If you order one, please let me know and I’ll be right over for tea and cookies!

Have a happy weekend!
