Inspiration

I think it’s safe to say that many of us who haunt the decorating, crafting, and so on blogs in blog land are probably magazine junkies.  Or maybe it’s just me.  I would be embarrassed to tell you how many magazines I have purchased over the years, let alone how many I threw away after they sat in a corner for several years.  Which is not to say that I don’t have my regrets.  When I think about every issue of the original Victoria that I tossed out I GROAN with dismay.  I mean….it was such a GREAT magazine, don’t you think?  Timeless decor, great recipes, blah blah blah!

Today, I think twice before I toss.

I have magazines under tables.

Magazines not so cleverly disguised in corners.

002

Magazines in trays.

And these are just the ones that you can SEE.

Fortunately for my budget, good magazines are getting more and more difficult to find.  As we all know, many are not around any more, and others just seem to have run out of steam.

BUT….there are always exceptions!  Thank goodness!

I was at the book store the other day and spied a copy of the October Country Living.  I noticed that it was not only larger in actual size, but also thicker.  I wondered “what’s up” then noticed it was the British Edition.  $6.99 and worth every penny I might add!  Packed with oodles and oodles of eye candy deluxe!  I think that I may have purchased this magazine a couple of times and then kinda forgot about it.  But I couldn’t get home with this one fast enough!

Now who could resist this cover?  It has everything, don’t you think?  Right down to that perfectly worn blue on the shed back drop!

Gorgeous colors, textures, and images.

Plenty of color for a color junkie like me!

I am totally and completely in love with these two lamps and their slightly odd sized shades!  Be still my heart!  I’m thinking chunky wood candle sticks, drilled through and a lamp kit installed and then I’ll have to scheme with Miss Heather on that lamp shade.  It has to be that same odd barrel shape.

Apparently the November issue went on sale Oct. 15th.  I don’t know if we get it here in the States then or not.

I WILL be haunting the book store for the December issue for sure!

So I’m inspired again………..for now!

Hope you are all having a great week!

Denise

  1. Thanks for the scoop on the British Country Living. I'll be on the look out. I subscribe to several Brit blogs because I love the extra umph! they sometimes have.

  2. Ooooooooo Denise...I love these lampshades...I can see these with a wide ribbon tied around them and just looped in a loose knot...how cool are these???

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger...I would be embarrassed to tell you how many magazines I have purchased. I even look on Amazon to find back issues of things I have missed *sheepish look*

  6. British Country LIving is my absolute favourite magazine right now. Just a fabulous escape, although every time I finish reading it I want to buy either a sheep or a pig. Sigh.

I'm lucky though, I saved every single Victoria!! They are all in my library and I dive into them often! Still no replacement!

  7. I love, LOVE magazines - I have a few favorites, Home Companion, Living, Midwest Living, Country Living... I only save a few though and am continually throwing things away because we have a small home and I don't like clutter. ♥

  8. Hello Denise, my name is Sheila and I have a magazine addiction. (Just don't want you to feel alone)! I seem to be reading old ones more lately though, since I'm not working and the ones I want (all of the Somerset ones and the cool decorating ones) are SO expensive. I through out the old Victorias too, but just last week. I re-read them. Although cool, they just aren't as cool as we thought they used to be. (Does this make you feel any better about having thrown them away)? I hope so :)

    Love,
    Sheila

  9. Hi Denise! I am jumping and waving my hand from the back of the room, count me in with your club too. Magazines are in every nook and cranny in my home. But I always enjoy pulling out one from years ago and flipping through it again. Especially when I come across pages I earmarked and i re-find an idea or inspiration all over again. Great post! ~ xo Joy
