Welcome to Heather’s house with her newly painted cabinets! It was a difficult decision for her to decide what colors to use mainly because she is fortunate enough to have neutral floors and neutral solid surface counter tops, so the sky was the limit!
Here is the before. But….before I show you, let me explain. My grandson is 15. Just knowing that is ALMOST explanation enough for what the ornery kid did. She had been constantly reminding him to “KEEP THE CABINET DOORS CLOSED!” So he snuck into the kitchen one night and opened every..cabinet..door.. and of course left them that way. So right in the middle of all of the mess of getting ready to paint, you see this….
Mess! You can also see that at this point she ALSO did not have ovens and still hadn’t decided what to do with her counter stools. You can probably see swatches of paint here and there also.
So…..final paint decision.
CREAM for the left side of the kitchen. And TURQUOISE BLUE for the other side.
Do you love it? I sure do. Notice the counter stools are the same blue with hounds tooth seats. Painted by….yep….Heather.
Here’s a view which includes the dining area. You can read about her farm table HERE. Her two upholstered chairs are still waiting for little old ME to make slipcovers for them. And to decide on fabric. How about that funky chandelier? It is HUGE! We found it last year on vacation in Wyoming and it was so big, we had to have it shipped. Each panel is a wildlife theme and they snap in to the frame individually. I made the floral curtains for her bay window, which you just have a sneak peak of, and also….on the other side of the farm table is a buffet painted…..yep! BLUE!
As you can see, there are now pretty double stainless ovens. The hardware on all of the cream cabinets are from Ikea.
So that’s it for today’s kitchen tour.
Since we’re joining the 16 week fall party challenge and today’s challenge is the color BLUE,
I thought I would include this picture of a dresser that Heather painted.
BLUE with an adorable owl motif! I love LOVE this dresser. So so sorry for the giant water mark through the middle of her pics., unfortunately, it has just recently become necessary.
Joining The Happy Housie for the 16 week fall party challenge! See you there!

Heather is lucky to have the neutrals to work with, Denise. I know that sometimes you are stuck with using certain colors because of those things that aren't or can't be changed. Love the dresser she did; that owl is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I painted my pine kitchen cabinets black a few years ago and am still in love with them! That owl dresser is the cutest thing ever! What a great idea to paint it that way. Well done!
