I can’t believe that it’s already Thursday evening.  This week has gone by soooo fast.  It’s been filled with sewing and picking up T-Man after school every day since his Mommy is still down from her surgery.  Heather’s simple hernia surgery turned into a 6 hour major major surgery.   She came very close to ending up in ICU  and was in the hospital for three days.  When the surgeon informed us of  the extent of what he had to do, I handled the stress in my usual fashion and broke out in hives.  :)    Thank goodness everything went well.  She is still in a whole whole lot of pain and has a longer than expected recovery ahead.  She better hurry though, we have a wedding to plan!!!!

I’ve had plenty to do this week.  SEWING!!

I finished this white slipcover for the chair in my tiny studio room.  White denim and I found a yummy gauzy linen blend for the ruffles.

Here’s the top back.

I love it!  I added extra fabric to the skirt to make it really full and fluffy!

So……if I’m not careful, I may ruffle the world.  I really do love the way that they look.  I just hope I’m still saying that next year at this time after all of the work I’m doing.

I started on the dining room chairs today.  It was either slipcover or paint.  The black chairs just didn’t look right with everything else that I have been doing.

I haven’t pressed this one yet.  I wanted to get a couple of pics. in with this post.  Which accounts for the lousy quality!

Side view.

I probably shouldn’t have done the same ruffle on the top as the other chair, but I think it looks pretty cute in the chocolate brown.  Which, by the way, came from a linen dust ruffle that I was no longer using.  The fabric for these chairs was $5.99 a yard.  So it’s costing under $10.00 a chair for the dining room.  Pretty thrifty!  I’ll show a complete room before and after when I’m done.  Just don’t hold your breath.  It may be awhile!

Have a nice rest of the week!

I am in LOVE with your LOVE of ruffles and if after everything with the wedding is done, if you still feel like adding ruffles to the world...come on down to Cali, have I got some projects for you lol I would trade you some of my many drawer pieces for some slipcovers *wink! Everything that you slip covered made me drool...I just thought I would share that with you! :) Have a beautiful weekend and give Heather a yummy treat, maybe it will make her SMILE :) I know Godiva cheesecake always does that for me :) Besos, Rose

  10. I hope Heather is better soon. I love the beautiful chair covers. You are soo talented.

  11. Hi Denise, I hope Heather will soon feel well again. And I hope her recovery is a fast one. The chairs look verry nice. We had that idea of opening a B and B. But sounds like a lot of work. I would rather just be digging in the garden. Have a good weekend..Julian

  12. Too pretty and love the lamp shade; it's just as beautiful as the chair apron.

  13. Oh Denise I hope that Heather gets to feeling better soon. What a worry this must be for you both.
Your slipcover is TDF and now I want one. I love anything ruffly and this is so pretty. You did an amazing job. I love how you can just decide to do something and do it and it always turns out beautifully.
    Good job girl!
    give my best to Heather.

  14. Denise! Your ruffled creations are so beautiful!!! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for all your comments of encouragement...Getting things together, sometimes, can feel like the most overwhelming thing in the world. It's nice to know that someone understands. Thanks again, Karen

    Hope Heather is feeling better!

  18. I'm happy to hear Heather is on the road to recovery! What a stress filled time that must have been for everyone.... I'm glad to hear the worst is behind her.

Your slipcovers are adorable. I've been to busy with every other project under the sun to take on the two large chairs I'm wanting to slip cover the very same way as yours.... wanna come over and do mine? lol I know, I know... don't sleep and that frees up the time to do them!

  19. Hi Denise! Sorry I've been away for awhile...we moved...again!!! And I was without internet for almost 2 weeks!

Please let Heather know all of us are thinking of her and I hope she gets to feeling better soon!

Your thrifty slip-covering job is amazing, of course! I have a little chair at my desk that is in need of a face-lift also. And I'm looking for a kitchen table, we don't even have one yet!! Off to read some more post that I've missed :0)

  20. I am so LOVING those slip covers. Me... I would roll over or get the chair leg caught in the ruffle. GRACE! Yep that's me. Hope Heather is feeling better. When is the wedding? Hope she'well soon. HUGS! Charlene
