When I saw these……
gingham handles at Hobby Lobby, I had to have them. Which is surprising. I don’t especially love gingham (or hate it) but I just LOVED these handles. They would typically be something that is very “not me.”
I decided to use them in the laundry room. Which was WAY WAY over due for a re-do.
I use the word laundry “room” loosely. It is a laundry “passage” between the kitchen and the garage. It’s like….TECHNICALLY, I have a laundry room and that’s about it.
But…..I gotta stay positive. Right girls?!
I painted the cabinets Ben. Moore White Dove. What a difference. I didn’t realize how dingy and yellow they looked.
Then I made little curtains.
For either side.
I used cheapo tension rods from Wal-Mart to attach them to the wall.
I now have just enough room behind each rod for a small shelf.
I emptied the shelves above the washer and dryer and used my mad scientist skills to mix up enough of this blue to freshen up the insides.
I was numbering these baskets with little chalk board tags when hubby walked through and asked “why are you doing that, it’s pretty obvious what’s in each on.” I was aghast I tell you! I mean ANYONE should know it’s because it looks CUTE! DUH! sigh…..
I didn’t have enough of the plastic baskets to fill the other side so I made this fabric basket liner for one of my wire baskets. Have to throw in a bit of turquoise somewhere, don’t ya know!
Spray painted another basket black, and threw away anything I didn’t need. I kinda hit on the “shelf behind the curtain” idea after everything was finished so I’m anxious to see what I can do with those.
Here is my light fixture. From Lowe’s. I think they’re around $35.00 and they provide a ton of light.
The totally useless plastic bag holder (I hate the stupid thing) and a black and white graphic.
A black and white plate Heather gave me a few years back.
Hanging above the laundry sign that I made for this room.
So….no cute jars full of detergent or clothes pins sitting on the shelves…..I wish, but I just need every bit of space that I can get. And this laundry room may just be one step above having one in the garage……but at least it looks fresh and clean now.
You’ll just have to use your imagination to visualize how everything looks together. I couldn’t even get a photo of everything at one time.
Tutorials coming soon…..
Super easy sew basket liners.
Laundry sign. How I cheat when I apply lettering or graphics.

It looks great!! Love the curtains and the numbered containers! What a fun read from top to bottom. XO
ReplyDeleteYou've made it look really pretty, Denise! Love the fabric you used and the gingham handles. My laundry room is basically a long hallway which includes the garage door and leads to the kitchen {and the other direction is my craft sewing room bordering the other side}.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to The Creative Home & Garden hop! : )
It may be little, but it certainly is cute! I really like your idea of the sweet little curtains. Men.....they just don't get it when it comes to plain "cute stuff!"
